How Much Chlorella To Take Each Day

Marie wrote me with a question:

Hi am in interested in buying your Chlorella and Spirulina in both powder and tablet form. It says to take 12 to 20 tablets a day. That seems like a lot. Is it really necessary for maintenance?

My response was:

Chlorella and spirulina are whole foods so you can take any amount you want.  12 tablets is only 3 grams, which is a very small amount of food.  Think of a banana.  3 grams would be less than one bite.
So, in the end it is up to you.  I am a vegan and I take around 50 tablets per day.  Sounds like a lot, but it’s my main protein source and they are the most powerful foods on earth.

Is It Immoral to Kill Animals For Food? Ben Shapiro: “I don’t know”

Ben Shapiro, fast-talking conservative talk show host, was asked on his podcast whether ben shapirokilling animals was immoral.  In essence, Ben said that he does not think it’s right to harm or abuse animals, but he openly admitted that likes the taste of meat.   “People need meat,” Ben said.  “They need protein.”   He said that if there was a viable alternative to getting protein from a non-meat source he would consider not eating meat anymore.   Well, there is.  They are called Spirulina and Chlorella, the two most powerful foods in the world.

  1. Meat is extremely acidic and deposits a great deal of acid into the body where it collects in the joints and around the organs, creating an overall more acid profile in the body.
  2. Slaughterhouses are currently using techniques that tenderize the meat by electrocuting it repeatedly, which releases even more of the acid in the meat.
  3. Meat contains no dietary fiber whatsoever, a critical component of human health. This makes meat very difficult to digest.
  4. Meat contains absolutely no enzymes once it has been cooked, another critical component of human health.
  5. Meat contains a limited number of nutrients other than protein. One of them is Vitamin B-12, one of the few good sources of that nutrient. However, the Vitamin B Complex operates optimally with all the B Vitamins present, B1 (Thiamin), B2 (Riboflavin), B3 (Niacin), B5 (Pantothenic Acid), B6 (Pyridoxine), B12 (Cobalamin).
  6. The proteins found in meat must be broken down into amino acids and reformed into human proteins. This is inefficient and requires more energy to process than vegetable amino acids, which are considered predigested protein.
  7. Cancer patients are told by their doctors to avoid meat because it encourages the spread of the disease. We can easily conclude from this is encourages the disease to start as well.
  8. Enormous amounts of hormones, steroids, antibiotics and other medications are regularly injected into the beef cattle meant for human consumption.
     Slaughterhouses are notoriously filthy. E-coli and the removal of hay from the cattle’s diet.
  9. Raising cattle and other livestock for slaughter is far more costly than vegetable protein. For instance, Spirulina farming operations typically produce over 200,000 pounds (91,000 kg) of Spirulina per year on only fifteen acres of land. Since Spirulina is 60% protein, that calculates to a staggering 120,000 pounds (54,500 kg) of protein per year or 8,000 pounds per acre. This far exceeds the yield of other high protein crops such as triticale grain, kamu and even soybeans. The amount of protein derived from cattle per acre is negligible compared with that of either Spirulina or Chlorella.   We eat for taste and only for taste. The nutritional benefits of meat are far out-weighed by the negative effects it has on the body.
  10. Algae is also a much cleaner crop to produce since there is no manure or fertilizer used to grow the algae. Thus there is no possibility of contamination from commercial manure or chemical fertilizers and of course there is no run off pollution from them.

REBUTTAL to Dr. Robert Young on Algae and Eating Meat

Dr. Robert O. Young wrote the book pH Miracle, which I wrote a rebuttal to.

In the beginning of the interview Dr. Young talks about the detrimental effects of consuming meat and how it should be avoided.

Dr. Young’s words are in italics. “Meat has no nutritional value other than to just destroy you life.” “[Eating meat is] why most people stink.  That’s why they have body odor.  That’s why their elimination smells . . . You can smell someone that’s a meat eater.  You can just look at their eyes and at their skin.”

I have not consumed meat since 1980.  Absolutely, I suggest to people that they do not to eat meat, fish, eggs or dairy.  But I think Dr. Young goes too far in suggesting that there is no nutrition in meat whatsoever and the reason why people smell so much.  Meat may be one of the contributing factors, but I have met vegetarians who smell bad themselves, including their breath.  He suggests that meat actually causes people to rot from within.  The consumption of cooked animal protein leads to more disease than anything other than not drinking enough water.  But it’s not as bad as Dr. Young makes it sound.

Dr. Young continues:“It’s probably the worst of all the foods one can eat.”

Perhaps Dr. Young has never been introduced to a Twinkie, Cheese Puffs or the myriad number of other processed junk foods that the average person commonly eat everyday.  I would consider many of them much worse than meat.

Dr. Young continues: ““In fact a lot of times the people who eat meat start looking like the animals they’re eating.  Because there’s an intelligent there, matter, that actually starts shifting, you know, the animals they eat many times they become.”

It’s a mystery as to what Dr. Young is suggesting as to how a person begins to look like the animals they eat, whether it is fish or a chicken or a cow.  I call on Dr. Young to defend this non-scientific, preposterous idea with some kind of evidence in the way of a study or at least a scientific hypothesis.

The sarcastic tone of Dr. Young is palpable throughout the video: “Get off your lazy ass and start moving it. You ever heard of exercise? You know?”

Dr. Young continues: “ “Maybe eating more green foods and drinking more green drinks.”

I couldn’t agree more with this statement since chlorophyll is our most important nutrient in my opinion.  Unfortunately Dr. Young does not include aglae as one of the healthy green foods.  In fact, it’s his Biggest Mistake.

Around 4:55 in the video, Dr. Young begins talking about mushrooms and algae and it’s all downhill from there. “Think about it folks.  Algae and fungi, where do you find them, under rotting decay and bodies.  In stagnant, poisonous, toxic lakes.  It’s whole purpose is to breakdown dead bodies. And when you put algae and fungus and bacteria, what we call healthy bacteria probiotics all you do is take one step closer to the grave.”

We feed and encourage disease of every kind when our digestive tract is void of probiotics.  Dr. Young is suggesting here that the friendly bacteria we call probiotics (for life), commonly Acidophilus and bifidus, also causing us to decay from within.  There certainly are harmful bacteria, but to make the blanket statement that all bacteria are harmful to our health is completely wrong, as ample scientific evidence and studies unmistakably proves otherwise.

Dr. Young continues: ““What we need is more light, not biological transformations that are essential to life to breaking down dead bodies so they can go back to from whence they came so can be part of some organized matter.  . . . you take days, months, years off your life when you start consuming these things.”

Equating yeast, mold and fungus with algae is Dr. Young’s Biggest Mistake. Yeast and mold are recycling instruments used by nature that are commonly found in a diseased body.  When nature discovers something that does not belong in it, nature’s processes immediately attempt to re-fold it back into itself so it will again become part of it. Algae is a green food in the Plantae Kingdom.  It is a plant, the oldest on the planet, that depends on sunlight to survive and reproduce itself.  Fungus, mold and yeast are not plants.  They belong in the Fungi Kingdom and do not require sunlight, nor do they produce chlorophyll. They are recycling agents meant to return things to nature that are no longer a part of it.  You will find mold and fungus in cancer patients because they are being recycled back into nature because cancer is not a part of nature, but rather a response to something found outside of nature.

Dr. Young continues:When you look at an electron micrograph of lung cancer you see algae(s) and mushrooms.  That’s what the tissues looks like,  under the sea, you know, Disney Land, you see all these carbunculars  and algae and fungi.”

Once again, Dr. Young claims algae is a recycling agent when in fact some species are the most powerful foods known, as such spirulina and chlorella. They are the most scientifically researched foods in nature.  Unlike any other food, both must accompany a Certificate of Analysis with each batch that the producer sells.  There is no other food on the market that a COA must be presented with other than herbal extracts.  No other food is so rigorously and thoroughly tested in studies than spirulina and chlorella.  Only cracked cell chlorella can be imported and sold in the United States, and the processing methods must be approved by the FDA.  No other foods are so closely scrutinized by the FDA than these two foods.

In regards to mushrooms, some varieties have incredible health properties such as Shiitake, Reishi, Maitake, Cordyceps, Enoki, Antrodia camphorata to name a few. Many of them have powerful anticancer and immune building properties.  I regularly consume mushroom and find nothing wrong with them at all.

Yet they are denounced and ridiculed as agents of decay and disease for those who dare consume them.  Dr. Young’s biggest blunder occurs with his denunciation of the most powerful foods on earth.  It’s not the first time he has made this mistake and I’m sure it’s not the last.

REBUTTAL: Mercola Likes Fermented Chlorella

Personally, I would only eat fermented Chlorella in an emergencyJosephMercola situation, as I would any other survival food if crisis circumstances were to arise.  However, Dr. Joseph Mercola believes fermented chlorella is great.  He claims it’s more digestible and less contaminated.  I have discussed fermented chlorella in the past and you will know I am not a fan of it.  Essentially, it’s not natural to grow chlorella in tanks rather than outside.

I am a raw foodist, and have been since 1999.  However, I would eat cooked food – even processed food – to survive in an extreme emergency.  They would be my last resort, as would fermented, tank-produced Chlorella.

Chlorella is the great grandfather of all plant life on Earth.  Chlorella, the first plant to possess chlorophyll, appeared approximately 4 billion years ago.  Fermented, tank-grown Chlorella, on the other hand, has been around since 2007, maybe a little earlier if you count the time it took to research and figure out how to artificially force Chlorella to produce chlorophyll. Some pronounce the invention of fermented Chlorella to be a “great breakthrough” and an “improvement, but I am not one of them.  If I thought so I would be importing it by the ton and selling it.  However, I prefer to sell what I believe to be the best sunlight cultivated Chlorella on the planet, which is grown in Taiwan.

Why Is Eating Meat So Unhealthy

The reason that eating animal protein is one of the worst things for our health is simple. Let’s first establish that everyone always cooks their animal protein.  Rarely does anyonesteak tartare eat raw meat, fish, eggs or dairy, although there is a strong movement to consume raw dairy, in particular raw goat’s milk.   I am not against eating raw animal protein, but it certainly is not necessary for us to consume it if we wish to be healthy.  Eating raw animal protein is known as Paleo Diet.

The problem with animal protein is that it is a pre-formed protein chain of amino acids that are then brought to high temperatures during the cooking process.  The higher the meattemperature and the longer the animal protein is cooked at these temperatures, the more harmful the animal protein becomes to our health.  Although it is not desirable, exposing plant proteins (unstructured amino acids) to high temperatures does not have the same deleterious effects on our health.  A Harvard study showed that the consumption of red meat has been linked to the increased risk of Type II diabetes.[1]

I always suspected this about protein structures and it was confirmed to me in a book called  Heal With Amino Acids and Nutrients.[2]

I was reading the book in my studies to become a Certified Nutritional Consultant, and Amino Acidsthere it was in black and white, exactly what I had always suspected and that is that cooked, pre-formed protein structures become chemically scrambled and many of the peptide bonds that link the amino acids together are completely destroyed.  This turns the protein structure into mush, unrecognizable and therefore unusable by the body.  The more it is cooked, the more dangerous it becomes.  Cooking animal protein at extremely high temperature also creates plastic-like substances (polymers) call acrylamides, which of course are toxic, extremely unhealthy and therefore do not belong in the body.

peptide bondsThe same problem would not occur if plant protein is cooked, although I certainly would not recommend it if it can be avoided.  If you want to consume meat, fish, eggs or dairy, do so with the realization that you are consuming them strictly for the taste of it, not for the nutrition.  A smaller handful of Spirulina and/or Chlorella will provide your body with all the nutrition it needs.

Nothing causes more disease than eating cooked animal protein other than people don’t keep themselves properly hydrated, meaning they simply do not drink enough water, and/or they don’t drink the right kind of water.  The right water is ionized water, spring water, mineral water or well-filtered tap water.  Distilled and reverse osmosis is NOT the right kind of water we should consume.

My effort, as always, is to educate people about health, and not to suggest that we make people stop eating animal protein.  I don’t care what people eat – it’s none of my business.  However I do offer some advice to those who want to listen, and that is to limit, if not entirely eliminate, animal protein of all kinds from your diet if your desire is to be healthy.  If you replace animal with algae, Spirulina and Chlorella, you will do an about face and quickly start moving closer to that goal.

The Ad Coca-Cola Does NOT Want You To See

You will not see Coca-Cola posting this video any time soon. But you don’t want to miss it. I grew up on Coke and lots of other garbage. No ever mentioned that coke, as well as all soft drinks, are incredibly dangerous to our health.  In fact, I have always said that my bones are made our of Coca-cola and Oreo Cookies.  What garbage!  But we, meaning my family, didn’t know any better back then.

Or at least we didn’t know any better.  Have a look, and then never touch another soft drink!  Your body and your health will thank you.

Component 7 – Positive Mental Attitude

Once you achieve the level of physical health discussed in this book, what remains to complete the picture is cultivating a positive mental attitude, which will be enhanced by exploring your own spirituality. Great Health cannot be achieved without possessing a positive mental attitude.

If your mind is against you, you don’t have a chance of being healthy or accomplishing the various goals you set for yourself. As we begin to put the right things in the body it becomes easier for the mind to motivate and inspire us, which is one of its central functions. With all this comes confidence and when confidence is combined with skill, you become unconquerable.

The mind is a critical component that can thwart our best efforts to be healthy. A negative attitude will drag the body down with it. Our mind and spirit have the final say in our health. A typically healthy body can be destroyed by disease if there is a breakdown in the human spirit. On the other hand, every function of the body is greatly enhanced when the mind and Spirit are focused together on the same affirmative goal of staying healthy and living to the best of our ability. We need to exercise the spirit the way we exercise the body, consistently, habitually and with determined purpose. Undoubtedly, great confidence will follow.

Company Claims To Have Found New Chlorella Strain

An algae product known as Cryptomonadales is grown in Taiwan and marketed throughout Asia, Australia and North America.  The claims made about this strain of chlorella, such as how it is grown and what strain it actually is, are ridiculous.   The algae that they say is grown is a strain known as Chlorella sorokiniana, which is named after the researcher who discovered it, Constantine Sorokin.

 

Chlorella sorokiniana is a thermopilic algae that thrives in warm water at temperatures of 100 – 107 degrees F (40 – 42 degrees C).  Most Chlorella strains are grown at much lower temperatures, around 55 – 80 degrees F (15 – 22 degrees C).  The biggest problem with Chlorella are the pheophorbides, an derivative of chlorophyll, chemical structures that are dangerous to our health if consumed in large quantities.  Pheophorbides must be controlled during the spray drying process.  Measured in milligrams as a percent of the food per grams with 60mg/100 grams being the limit allowed by law. Watershed Chlorella has a level of 27 – 30 mg pheophorbides.  Some Chlorella producers have over 180 mg pheophorbides, well over the maximum allowable contamination level.  Therefore, this chlorella cannot be sold for consumption alone but must be combined with other algae such as Spirulina in order to bring the pheophorbide to acceptable levels.  More than 50 chlorella companies in Taiwan went out of business in the 1970’s and 80’s because they could not control the Pheophorbide levels in the chlorella they were producing.

Chlorella pyrenoidosa contains Alpha Linolenlic Acid (ALA), another PUFA that that is an essential nutrient, meaning that it is required by body and must be consumed since the body cannot produce it.

Cryptomonadales claim:Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptors Crypto Power™ Chlorella Cryptomonadales® Chlorella Sorokiniana The only known algae in the world containing significant amounts of all three naturally occurring Alpha, Beta, and Gamma PPARs.”

Chlorella - Nutritional Analysis - Spec Sheet-page-001Chlorella sorokiniana contains both ALA and Beta linolenic acid (BLA), however only spirulina has gamma linolenic acid (GLA).  The claim by the producers of cryptomonadales that they have combined Chlorella sorokiniana with Spirulina plantenis into one strain of algae is completely false because this is simply not possible.  Spirulina is not an algae, but rather a cyanobacteria (blue bacteria) that is both animal and vegetable since it exhibits both characteristics regarding its biological classification. The blue in spirulina is phycocyanin, a powerful antioxidant.  Phyco means algae and cyanin means blue.  But Spirulina does not have a nucleus and therefore cannot be classified a plant and why it is classified as a cyanobacterium, or blue bacteria.

The reason this is important is because we know that it is impossible to cross a plant with WWC_Spirulina-Spec_Sheet-INGREDIENTSan animal, in this case a bacteria with an algae.  It would be like crossing a dog with a strain of corn.  There has been speculation that they have gene-spliced these two together, fusing them into a new species.  If that is true then it is a result of genetic modification (GMO), commonly known as franken-food because it is a food that has been tinkered with by man.  When man tinkers with nature rather than mold it to his benefit, things tend to go wrong.   That is meaning of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, that tinkering with nature will result in a catastrophe.

What the producers of cryptomonadales fail to produce is a Certificate of Analysis (COA).  A COA is provided with every batch of chlorella and spirulina that is produced. Algae products are not permitted to be sold without a COA, which is true of Herbal Extracts such as Ginkgo Biloba.   I would never purchase and/or sell a chlorella that did not have a COA and complete nutritional analysis such as this one.  Chlorella and Spirulina companies routinely refuse to offer a COA to the public, which is unfortunate since it is the COA that the algae industry rests its case on.  In the case of cryptomonadales it is even more imperative that a COA is offered to anyone who asks for it since they claim to have created a whole new strain of algae.  Until now, they have refused to release a COA of cryptomonadales.  And just to be clear, an analysis of what nutrients are in cryptomonadales is not a COA.  A COA must  be attached to a particular batch of algae that is produced and when it was produced.

The producer does not sell cryptomonadales® Chlorella Sorokiniana in powder form, which is quite odd since many people prefer to take chlorella and Spirulina in powder form rather than tablets.  If they were to release cryptomonadales in powder form their product could be analyzed and evaluated by a third party such as the Japan Food Research Laboratories, Tokyo, Japan, one of several companies capable of conducting such an objective, independent and reliable analysis.

My opinion is that Cryptomonadales® Chlorella Sorokiniana is a combination of Chlolrella sorokiniana and Spirulina plantenis, separate powders in tablet form and not a new strain of algae as the producers claim.  Spirulina must be combined with Chlorella sorokiniana in order to bring the pheophorbides down to acceptable levels, below 60mg/100 gram.  However, we don’t know what those levels are because they won’t publish their COA.  Other than the complete array of PUFAs and PPARs (alpha, beta and gamma linenloic acids), Cryptomonadales does not have much of an advantage over other forms chlorella such as Chlorella pyrenoidosa and Chlorella vulgarius. I want to be clear that I have nothing against Cryptomonadales® Chlorella Sorokiniana.  It is a good health product to consume, but the producers are misrepresenting what it is and how it is produced.  They are being deliberately deceptive about their own product in order to sell more of their product and market it as being the latest technology and innovations in the world of health.  The truth is that this kind of deliberate misrepresentation is hurting the algae industry because it causes confusion. My question is that why is there has not been more calls from within the scientific community

I invite them to provide the world with evidence that they have indeed created a new strain of algae by combining a bacterium (Spirulina) with a plant (Chlorella).  Until now, they have offered no scientific or photographic evidence that their claims are indeed true.  Therefore, the untenable claims made by the producers of Cryptomonadales are perpetrating a hoax by claiming that they have invented a new strain of algae in my opinion.
