Tribestan is the component of Tribulus that makes it such a powerful herb. Tribestan is known as a saponin, which are natural chemical structures that have nutraceutical, or healing, properties. Tribestan is famous for building muscle.

Tribulus terrestris is an herb that has been used in the traditional medicine of China and India for centuries. The active compounds in Tribulus are called steroidal saponins. Tribestan is most often used for infertility, erectile dysfunction, and low libido. In the last decade, it has become popular to improve sports performance.
Tribestan is a completely natural non-hormonal herbal (phytochemical) biostimulator It is a natural herbal alternative to synthetic anabolic hormones without any clinically proven toxic effects.

Tribestan administration leads to increased muscle mass in active sports by activating the enzyme associated with energy metabolism. At the same time it has also been reported to have the ability to stimulate some functions associated with the increase of the body’s natural endogenous testosterone and lutenizing hormone (LH) levels.

By Bob McCauley, ND

Rose was my translator on my recent trip to China and Taiwan to visit algae producers and herbal extractors. I’ll be going into detail about each place I visit, but my itinerary was:

Lansing, Michigan to Hong Kong via Chicago. 1 day. 2 days in Hong Kong meeting with coffee brokers for possible importation.

Fly to Hainan Island to visit a spirulina/chlorella factory. 3 days.

Fly to Guilin, mainland China, to visit a newly built herbal extraction factory. 3 days.

Fly to Taichung, Taiwan to visit three spiriulina/chlorella factories, two I had never seen before. 7 days.

Fly to HK and back to Lansing, MI. 1 day.

You need to be dedicated to loving spirulina and chlorella to make this kind of a trip. It was nothing less than grueling. First, you end up 12 hours in the future. It takes you around 10 – 12 days to completely adjust, which is usually just long enough so then I’m ready to come back and spend the next 12 days getting back to my regular schedule.

I learned a huge amount about the production of spirulina and chlorella on my trip. I’ve been selling spirulina and chlorella since 1996 and have visited chlorella factories before, but this was my first spirulina factory. I drank spirulina right out of the pond, as fresh as it gets. Rose got a giant pile of spirulina powder thrown all over her by the wind. Not funny for her; I couldn’t stop laughing, sorry.

Rose is now officially the Spirulina Queen of the Watershed Wellness Center. We were examining spirulina powder at the factory on Hainan Island when a gust of wind gently flung it all over her. I have never seen anyone with so much spirulina all over themselves. She looked as if she had jumped into a bin of spirulina powder. She took it well and spent the next 20 minutes trying to wash it off of herself. I’m sorry, but I couldn’t stop laughing, and laughing and . . .

She looks good in blue. More about the spirulina factory and the quality of Chinese spirulina in later posts. And more to come about my trip to other spirulina/chlorella factories in Taiwan as well.

by Bob McCauley, CNC, MH

The reason that eating animal protein is one of the worst things for our health is simple. Let’s first establish that everyone always cooks their animal protein. Rarely does anyone eat raw meat, fish, eggs or dairy, although there is a strong movement to consume raw dairy, in particular raw goat’s milk. I am not against eating raw animal protein, but it certainly is not necessary for us to consume it if we wish to be healthy. Eating raw animal protein is known as Paleo Diet.

The problem with animal protein is that it is a pre-formed protein chain of amino acids that are then brought to high temperatures during the cooking process. The higher the temperature and the longer the animal protein is cooked at these temperatures, the more harmful the animal protein becomes to our health. Although it is not desirable, exposing plant proteins (unstructured amino acids) to high temperatures does not have the same deleterious effects on our health. A Harvard study showed that the consumption of red meat has been linked to the increased risk of Type II diabetes.[1]

“Regular consumption of red meat, especially processed, is associated with an increased risk for type 2 diabetes. The findings are important given the rising epidemic of diabetes and the increasing consumption of red meat.” - Frank B. Hu, MD, PhD

I always suspected this about protein structures and it was confirmed to me in a book called Heal With Amino Acids and Nutrients.[2]

I was reading the book in my studies to become a Certified Nutritional Consultant, and there it was in black and white, exactly what I had always suspected and that is that cooked, pre-formed protein structures become chemically scrambled and many of the peptide bonds that link the amino acids together are completely destroyed. This turns the protein structure into mush, unrecognizable and therefore unusable by the body. The more it is cooked, the more dangerous it becomes. Cooking animal protein at extremely high temperature also creates plastic-like substances (polymers) call acrylamides, which of course are toxic, extremely unhealthy and therefore do not belong in the body.

The same problem would not occur if plant protein is cooked, although I certainly would not recommend it if it can be avoided. If you want to consume meat, fish, eggs or dairy, do so with the realization that you are consuming them strictly for the taste of it, not for the nutrition. A smaller handful of Spirulina and/or Chlorella will provide your body with all the nutrition it needs.

Nothing causes more disease than eating cooked animal protein other than people don’t keep themselves properly hydrated, meaning they simply do not drink enough water, and/or they don’t drink the right kind of water. The right water is ionized water, spring water, mineral water or well-filtered tap water. Distilled and reverse osmosis is NOT the right kind of water we should consume.

My effort, as always, is to educate people about health, and not to suggest that we make people stop eating animal protein. I don’t care what people eat – it’s none of my business. However I do offer some advice to those who want to listen, and that is to limit, if not entirely eliminate, animal protein of all kinds from your diet if your desire is to be healthy. If you replace animal with algae, Spirulina and Chlorella, you will do an about face and quickly start moving closer to that goal.

Dr. Young's words are in italics. "Meat has no nutritional value other than to just destroy you life." "[Eating meat is] why most people stink. That's why they have body odor. That's why their elimination smells . . . You can smell someone that's a meat eater. You can just look at their eyes and at their skin."

I have not consumed meat since 1980 and it is something I definitely tell people not to eat meat, fish, eggs or dairy. But I think Dr. Young goes too far in suggesting that there is no nutrition in meat whatsoever and the reason why people smell so much. Meat may be one of the contributing factors, but I have met vegetarians who smell bad themselves, including their breath. He suggests that meat actually causes people to rot from within. The consumption of cooked animal protein leads to more disease than anything other than not drinking enough water. But it's not as bad as Dr. Young makes it sound. Continue reading →

Bob McCauley, CNC, MH

Dr. Robert O. Young wrote the book pH Miracle, which I wrote a rebuttal to. He was interviewed by Kevin Giani.

The interview can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRhCVUFbNTM&feature=channel. In the beginning of the interview Dr. Young talks about the detrimental effects of consuming meat and how it should be avoided.

Dr. Young’s words are in italics. “Meat has no nutritional value other than to just destroy you life.” “[Eating meat is] why most people stink. That’s why they have body odor. That’s why their elimination smells . . . You can smell someone that’s a meat eater. You can just look at their eyes and at their skin.”

I have not consumed meat since 1980. Absolutely, I suggest to people that they do not to eat meat, fish, eggs or dairy. But it’s not as bad as Dr. Young makes it sound.

“It’s probably the worst of all the foods one can eat.” Perhaps Dr. Young has never been introduced to a Twinkie, Cheese Puffs or the myriad number of other processed junk foods that the average person commonly eat everyday. I would consider many of them much worse than meat.

Dr. Young continues: “In fact a lot of times the people who eat meat start looking like the animals they’re eating. Because there’s an intelligent there, matter, that actually starts shifting, you know, the animals they eat many times they become.”

It’s a mystery as to what Dr. Young is suggesting as to how a person begins to look like the animals they eat, whether it is fish or a chicken or a cow. I call on Dr. Young to defend this non-scientific, preposterous idea with some kind of evidence in the way of a study or at least a scientific hypothesis.

The sarcastic tone of Dr. Young is palpable throughout the video: “Get off your lazy ass and start moving it. You ever heard of exercise? You know?”

Dr. Young continues: “Maybe eating more green foods and drinking more green drinks.” I couldn’t agree more with this statement since chlorophyll is our most important nutrient in my opinion. Unfortunately Dr. Young does not include aglae as one of the healthy green foods. In fact, it’s his Biggest Mistake.

Around 4:55 in the video, Dr. Young begins talking about mushrooms and algae and it’s all downhill from there. “Think about it folks. Algae and fungi, where do you find them, under rotting decay and bodies. In stagnant, poisonous, toxic lakes. It’s whole purpose is to breakdown dead bodies. And when you put algae and fungus and bacteria, what we call healthy bacteria probiotics all you do is take one step closer to the grave.”

We feed and encourage disease of every kind when our digestive tract is void of probiotics. Dr. Young is suggesting here that the friendly bacteria we call probiotics (for life), commonly Acidophilus and bifidus, also causing us to decay from within. There certainly are harmful bacteria, but to make the blanket statement that all bacteria are harmful to our health is completely wrong, as ample scientific evidence and studies unmistakably proves otherwise.

Dr. Young continues: “What we need is more light, not biological transformations that are essential to life to breaking down dead bodies so they can go back to from whence they came so can be part of some organized matter. . . . you take days, months, years off your life when you start consuming these things.”

Equating yeast, mold and fungus with algae is Dr. Young’s Biggest Mistake. Yeast and mold are recycling instruments used by nature that are commonly found in a diseased body. When nature discovers something that does not belong in it, nature’s processes immediately attempt to re-fold it back into itself so it will again become part of it. Algae is a green food in the Plantae Kingdom. It is a plant, the oldest on the planet, that depends on sunlight to survive and reproduce itself. Fungus, mold and yeast are not plants. They belong in the Fungi Kingdom and do not require sunlight, nor do they produce chlorophyll. They are recycling agents meant to return things to nature that are no longer a part of it. You will find mold and fungus in cancer patients because they are being recycled back into nature because cancer is not a part of nature, but rather a response to something found outside of nature.

Dr. Young continues: “When you look at an electron micrograph of lung cancer you see algae(s) and mushrooms. That’s what the tissues looks like, under the sea, you know, Disney Land, you see all these carbunculars and algae and fungi.”

Once again, Dr. Young claims algae is a recycling agent when in fact some species are the most powerful foods known, as such spirulina and chlorella. They are the most scientifically researched foods in nature. Unlike any other food, both must accompany a Certificate of Analysis with each batch that the producer sells. There is no other food on the market that a COA must be presented with other than herbal extracts. No other food is so rigorously and thoroughly tested in studies than spirulina and chlorella. Only cracked cell chlorella can be imported and sold in the United States, and the processing methods must be approved by the FDA. No other foods are so closely scrutinized by the FDA than these two foods.

In regards to mushrooms, some varieties have incredible health properties such as Shiitake, Reishi, Maitake, Cordyceps, Enoki, Antrodia camphorata to name a few. Many of them have powerful anticancer and immune building properties. I regularly consume mushroom and find nothing wrong with them at all.

Yet they are denounced and ridiculed as agents of decay and disease for those who dare consume them. Dr. Young’s biggest blunder occurs with his denunciation of the most powerful foods on earth. It’s not the first time he has made this mistake and I’m sure it’s not the last.

I have said for years that chlorella and spirulina from China should be viewed suspiciously for several reasons.

They are notoriously high in heavy metals. When Japan industrialized in the 1970′s, it was exposed to tremendous amounts of mercury which caused mercury poisoning. China is experiencing the same phenomena today. And with such a large and cumbersome population, China has created one of the most polluted environments in the world. Algae grown in this type of environment will also contain those toxins.

They are notorious for presenting falsified Organic Certification when their production plants have not even been inspected. The FDA has been aware of this problem for years and the algae industry is hurt by this falsification. Challenging these companies on their efficacy has resulted in no changes in their illegal actions. The Chinese government has refused to intervene to stop them. Falsifying Organic Certification only occurs in China and has become one of the biggest problems in the algae industry.

They use gigantic spray driers and produce huge amounts of Spirulina at once, harvesting only two or three times each year instead of bi-monthly.

Their Spirulina and Chlorella contain so much bacteria that they are forced to irradiate it, which destroy a lot of the nutrients.

Here is the link from the FDA warning letter: http://www.fda.gov/ICECI/EnforcementActions/WarningLetters/ucm217574.htm

“FDA is concerned with the possible effects of the radiation on the nutrients in the food, the production of radiolytic byproducts, and the potential effect of radiation on the microbiological profile of the food. Any of these issues could raise health concerns with your irradiated products.”

Here are the things to consider when purchasing Chlorella, Spirulina or other algae.

Cultivated in a controlled environment and not harvested from a lake.

It should be constantly produced so it is fresh. Many producers, especially in China, produce Chlorella and Spirulina twice a year and then store it for the rest of the year. By the time it makes it to the market it can be as much as one year old. Freshness is obligatory when it comes to anything that has been powdered such as Spirulina, Chlorella or herbs such as Maca or Mucuna.

It must be powdered immediately after being produced.

Each batch must come with a Certificate of Analysis (COA). This is nearly impossible to get from most producers. Most resellers don’t even know what a COA is.

It must be cleaned, powdered and packed in a sterile environment.

The best Chlorella and Spirulina are currently grown in Taiwan, India and Hawaii. Be wary of anything produced in China. The Watershed Wellness Center only sells products that come from production facilities that it has produced.

“1. Spirulina (blue-green algae) Spirulina contains not only the antioxidant phycocyanin but also a bundle of protein, plus omega fatty acids. Once a mainstay food of the Aztecs, spirulina additionally works as an ibuprofenlike nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. Add one teaspoon to one tablespoon of spirulina a day to smoothies or yogurt, or take it in capsule form. Caution: for some people, spirulina can be overstimulating (kind of like too much coffee), so experiment to find the right balance.” http://www.aarpmagazine.org/health/longevity_foods.html

Bob McCauley wrote about spirulina in his best-selling book, Achieving Great Health. Also available in Chinese translation. The Watershed Wellness Center promotes spirulina as a central part of everyone’s diet and as a food that should be used for a protein source, or replacement, for meat, fish eggs and dairy products.

Spirulina information, videos and articles are here. Purchase spirulina here. We offer both tablets and powder, as well as chlorella/spirulina tablet combination.

Health Beginner to Health Master

A Step by Step Guide to Achieving Great Health

by Bob McCauley

Level One: Copper
Begin drinking Ionized Water
There is nothing needed by the body more than water and there is no better water than Ionized Water. Ionized Water is a powerful antioxidant that alkalizes the body and hydrates the body better than any other water because the size and shape of its water molecule clusters is much smaller than conventional water. This also helps flush unwanted substances, i.e. toxins, out of the body. Ionized Water is extremely detoxifying.

Level Two: Bronze
Add Spirulina and Chlorella to your diet
These are the most powerful whole foods in the world and what we should use for our main protein source. If you take 3 – 4 grams of either Spirulina or Chlorella with each meal that is all the protein you will need for that meal. If you want to eat animal protein, meat, fish, eggs or dairy, it is strictly for the taste and is not required by the body. The more we can limit if not eliminate animal protein from our diet the healthier we will be. Only 10 grams (40 tablets – 250 mg each tablet) of Spirulina and/or Chlorella provides the body with all the protein it requires. Spirulina and Chlorella are the most powerful superfoods known, the absolute kings of the plant world. They are the most nutritionally dense and have the broadest array of nutrients of any whole foods known.

Level Three: Silver
Step taking Angstrom Minerals each day
Minerals are the Keys that start the Engine of our Health. Every bodily process depends on a particular mineral to take place. Whether it is the production of an amino acid or an enzyme interaction, the proper mineral must be present for it to occur. It is difficult for us to consume foods that have enough minerals in them and even more difficult for the body to absorb them. For optimal health we need to supplement with angstrom minerals. Angstrom refers to the incredibly small size of the minerals. These liquid minerals are taken in small amounts and held in the mouth under the tongue so they are absorbed through the sublingual gland. This allows the minerals to be injected directly into the bloodstream where they can efficiently be used by the body as it needs them. It has been my observation that people who are mineral deficient tend to live lives of scarcity while people who are mineral rich tend to live lives of abundance.

Level Four: Gold
Begin taking Prebiotics or Probiotics
Probiotics are critical to human health. Lactobacillus Acidophilus is a friendly bacterium necessary for the digestion of proteins. It also reduces fungus infections, lowers blood cholesterol, aids general digestion and enhances nutrient absorption. Deficiencies may result in constipation, bloating, intestinal toxicity, gas, bad breath, Candida, mold and fungal infections. Bifidus is key for the synthesis of the vitamin K and B vitamins, including Vitamin B-12. Deficiency of Bifidus can cause constipation, gas and elevated levels of ammonia from protein digestion, which can lead to liver toxicity. Probiotics also help keep harmful bacteria such as H-Priori and e-coli Prebiotics are fermented foods that are beneficial to the growth of intestinal flora such as Acidophilus and Bifidus, therefore they work together to provide the body with intestinal wellbeing. This is of vital importance since most diseases of the body begin the digestive tract.

Level Five: Platinum
Begin Eating More Raw Foods

Try to include as many different kind of raw foods to your diet as possible. I personally eat 200 – 250 foods each year. Although I may consume very small amounts of some of them, it’s important to remember that each and every food is completely unique. My Raw Food Pyramid explains which foods you should eat and in what quantities. Our diet should consist mostly of green foods because Chlorophyll is the single most important nutrient required by the body. Therefore, most of what we consume should consist of green leafy foods such as kale, spinach, parsley and arugula. Cooking foods destroys their enzymes and scrambles chemical structure of the food greatly diminishing the nutrient potential of that food. Cooking foods above 105F transforms them from alkaline, rejuvenating foods that reduce the oxidation of the body into a substance that is no longer recognizable by the body. Cooked foods acidify, provide little nutrition and increase the oxidation of the body, which accelerates the aging process.

There are many ways to start including raw foods in your diet, such as making a juice and/or having a salad each day. Doing either one or both of these on a regular basis will make a tremendous difference in your health.

Level Six: Diamond
Add Herbal Extracts and Chlorella Growth Factor to your Diet

Herbs are plants that we have determined possess powerful attributes that are beneficial to our health. They are not complete foods such as Spirulina and Chlorella, meaning they do not have a balanced compliment of protein (amino acids), carbohydrates and fat. Rather, herbs are concentrated in one or more chemical compounds, each that have profound health benefits of different kinds. And since there are innumerable plants, there are innumerable kinds of benefits to our health. When we take Herbs that are best taken with complete foods such as Spirulina and/or Chlorella that have protein, carbohydrates and fats in them. This allows these powerful herbs to be mollified as they enter the bloodstream. This is especially true of people who are very toxic, are on medications or have been sick for a very long time.

For instance, the herb Tribulus has chemical saponins that build muscle in the body. Mucuna has L-Dopamine that acts as a mood enhancer and has been shown in studies to improve neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease. Valerian has valproic acid that helps us to relax. It also encourages deep, regular sleep patterns. Bacopa contains chemical components known as bacosides that improve memory and mental focus. The curcumin found in Turmeric is excellent for inflammation in the body. Studies also show that it can also help in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Ashwagandha is an herb that helps relieve stress, strain, fatigue, pain, skin diseases, diabetes, gastrointestinal disease, rheumatoid arthritis and epilepsy. It also helps increase energy as well as improves health and longevity. Shilajit counteracts Diabetes and regulates the blood sugar levels. Shilajit stimulates the immune system and improves recovery time after exercise. Shilajit counteracts debility and general fatigue. Chemical analyses of this brain-powering root, Maca, reveal an astonishing profile of amino acids, vitamins, minerals, sterols, fatty acids, and glucosinates.

Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF) is essentially concentrated chlorella that contains extremely high amounts of amino acids (protein), polysaccharides, nucleic acids (RNA/DNA) as well as other nutrients including the vitamin-B complex. The nucleotide-peptide complex in CGF performs small miracles in the body. It is an incredible immune system builder by stimulating B-cell, macrophage and interferon production. Nucleic acids are depleted by lack of exercise, stress, pollution and poor diet. Replenishing RNA/DNA is therefore fundamental to every aspect of bodily health, longevity and quality of life. CGF is available in both liquid and powder.

At the Diamond Level, I also recommend that you start using a Far Infrared Sauna each day. Exposure to Far Infrared Rays are energizing, detoxifying and superior immune system builders. As you literally sweat out heavy metals, acrylamides, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides and other toxins of every imaginable kind, you will help encourage an environment that is not conducive to disease.

Other recommendations for Achieving Great Health at any level: Exercise vigorously for 15 – 30 minutes each day, get plenty of rest and, most importantly, maintain a positive mental attitude. Actively seek a relationship with God and know that your body is His temple and when you dishonor it the result is sickness and disease. However, when you honor the temple that God has given you the result is always the same: Great Health.

The Watershed Wellness Center announces the release of a new product: Nature Built – Guard Against the Flu. It is a Natural Flu and Virus Firewall – is a nutritional compound scientifically demonstrated to block viruses from entering cells – including viruses that cause the flu (1) and enterovirus (2). Nature Built offers General Virus Protection. Based on the scientific results, Nature Built has broad anti-virus properties. Some of the yet to be published results indicate excellent viral inhibition including enterovirus-71, influenza virus type A and B, herpes virus, dengue virus, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and rotavirus. Nature Built – Guard Against the Flu’s unique benefits and production methods are protected by U.S. and international patents and have been subjected to rigorous scientific study.

Nature Built is not a drug. It’s a patented nutritional supplement concentrated and purified from proprietary strain FEM-101 and organically grown spirulina, a healthful blue green algae so rich in nutrients it’s commonly called a superfood. It takes the equivalent of 450 tablets of spirulina to make one serving of Nature Built or more than 13,000 tablets to make a single box! Nature Built does not kill viruses. Instead, it protects cells by creating a “viral firewall” that many viruses can’t cross. While Nature Built is not intended to treat or prevent illness, just like vitamins.

In addition different types of flu virus, Nature Built has also been shown to inhibit a number of other pathogens including several potentially serious intestinal viruses (Enterovirus 71 and Coxsackie virus A162) that may cause illness, paralysis and even death, especially in children. Additional research is currently underway to explore Nature Built’s range and mechanisms of action.

All information presented through this web site, whether by The Watershed Wellness Center or associated manufacturers, has not been evaluated by the FDA, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. These products are neither formulated nor prescribed for any medical condition. They are formulated for use as an important addition to the daily diet.
