Who is behind the Water Ionizer “Comparison” websites?

A plethora of websites have sprung up on the internet that do nothing but compare water ionizers that are sold by various companies. They are professionally done and easy to navigate. But who is behind these comparison sites? Why would anyone spend the money to produce a website that only compares water ionizers and doesn’t sell one themselves? The interesting thing is each of these “objective” websites has determined that a particular model or manufacturer is the best water ionizer on the market. I cannot say I have ever seen these types of comparison websites for any other product on the market. These “objective” websites are anything but what they appear to be. Any open and honest company or individual will allow you to see who they are by registering their website in their name.

There is a way to know if the website you are viewing is actually an objective third party or another water ionizer company deceptively promoting their own product while attempting to appear to be objective. To find out who owns a website search for them on Network Solutions at

You will notice that all the “objective water ionizer review websites” are registered anonymously by proxy, meaning that they are registered through a third party. Fitness, Exercise & Motivation – The Path to Perfect Health

The live food movement is the new paradigm, the next order of how health and disease are beginning to be perceived. It is a total approach to health that stresses water, live nutrition, exercise and high energy motivation. The Arnold Fitness EXPO is the largest EXPO of its kind where people come from all over the world to learn the latest about fitness and bodybuilding, but there is much more to being fit than simply exercising and endlessly pouring down powered health drinks. We are missing a huge health component when we concentrate exclusively on looks and building mass and not enough on diet and what truly leads to great health. And the good news is that we can have both, a great look and great health. We now recognize that medicine and health are two entirely different approaches that don't conflict with one another other than to force people to make a choice as to which path they will choose to achieve health.

There are three pillars of Great Health. Most bodybuilders and other athletes work hard to obtain two of those health pillars, exercise and a positive mental attitude or motivation . By neglecting the first pillar, nutrition and water, we only destroy the very foundation of what we are trying to achieve: a healthy, sculpted, athletic body. We don't obtain the perfect body we desire when we don't eat a truly healthy diet. We cheat ourselves out of health and appearance.

Health and Bodybuilding

Until now, the worlds of bodybuilding and true health have not coincided. Bodybuilding today still revolves around various supplements such as creatine and whey protein. The body creates some of these substances through its natural processes. For instance, creatine is created by the body from amino acids. However, when we consume synthetic forms of these substances, the body may still use them to build muscle, but not without a cost to the body's overall health. Some of these substances do not belong in the body whatsoever because they cause great detriment to our health. Whey protein, whether derived from a cow or goat, contains a protein structure that may appear on paper to be exactly what the body needs, but how the body handles it is an entirely different matter that causes severe imbalances in the body that can eventually lead to disease.

We can stay healthy and carve our bodies into the shape we want. To do this, we are use to pain and sacrifice, but to be truly healthy it takes a kind of sacrifice that most of us are not use to. Moving to the healthiest diet known will take more discipline than you can imagine because you will be required to change one of the most fundamental parts of your life, the diet you grew up with and are conditioned to believe is healthy. The diet we all live on is the cooked food diet, which leads to all disease.

Bodybuilders do two dangerously unhealthy things to themselves. They acidify and dehydrate their bodies. They acidify it through their diet and with exercise and then deliberately dehydrate it, especially before a competition, to make themselves look better. There is nothing worse for the body than acidifying and dehydrating it. It is why bodybuilders suffer from kidney, liver, heart disease, as well as a host of other health problems at such relatively young ages. None of these processes are natural nor are the diseases that result from them. We prematurely age ourselves with the cooked food diet, unnecessarily expose ourselves to disease and bodybuilders are more guilty of this than any other group of athletes. A hard working bodybuilder appears to be a picture of perfect health as his or her muscles ripple and flex. It is the human body sculpted into a work of art, but often that body is deteriorating within, rife with disease. It does not have to be this way.

My health protocol seeks to reverse the unhealthy things bodybuilders and other athletes do to themselves by opening their minds to the incredible world of natural foods, powerful nutraceuticals such as Spirulina and Chlorella and Ionized Water, the most important substance for our bodies.

Reverse Aging

We can reverse the aging process without hormone replacement or other artificial means. We can have the body that we had when we were in our twenties regardless of chronological age. We prematurely age ourselves, both internally and externally. Our faces show age more profoundly and at an earlier age when we acidify and dehydrate it. Bodybuilding is all about look and strength. When we move to the raw food diet, coupled with proper hydration of the body, we can have both the look we want and the health we deserve. When we talk about reversing the aging process, we are talking about reversing it biologically, not chronologically.

Building Bodies – The Problem of Protein

One of the nutrients the bodybuilding world currently revolves around is whey protein because its builds body mass. On paper, whey protein looks like a sensible, healthy choice. Unfortunately dairy products are one of the worst things we can possibly put in the body for a number of reasons. They create huge amounts of mucus in the body and the amino acid structure of whey protein throws the body completely out of homeostasis or balance. Specifically, the amino acid ratio is unbalanced, meaning that there is a large amount of one amino acid and not enough of others. This kind of imbalanced protein encourages disease more than anything else, which is why doctors often tell cancer patients to avoid meat and dairy because they know it will exacerbate the problem.

The Protein Solution

If we examine plant based amino acids, we find that they are naturally in the correct amino acid ratio to one another. Dairy products of any kind are wrong for the human body because are putting the milk and hormones of another species in our bodies. We are the only species to consume milk past infancy and the only species that consumes the milk of another species.

The Most Powerful Foods Known

Spirulina and Chlorella, two types of algae, are a superior source of protein for many reasons, including the fact that they alkalize the body instead of acidifying it the way animal protein does. These two foods are 60% protein, far higher than any other natural food. They have a full compliment of amino acids in the correct ratio to one another along with the broadest array of nutrients of any foods. They are both considered perfect foods. Although it would not be ideal, a person could live on either of them exclusively and be quite healthy. Bodybuilders must learn to use this type of plant protein as many have begun to do with great success. I work out everyday, running 3-7 miles along with upper body work. Since including these two superfoods in my diet, my stamina, recovery times and overall performance have improved dramatically.

Diet Plans We Should Fear

Traditional diet plans play around with the carbohydrate, fat and protein ratio of foods we consume. High fat, high protein diets allow the body to lose weight quickly, however they cause the body great harm and have even killed people. This happens because these diets meddle with the natural balance of protein, fats and carbohydrates that the body has evolved on over millions of years. When we tinker with it, the body falls out of homeostasis and opens itself up to all disease. One of the central components of the raw food diet is detoxification. Some people have complained that going on the raw food diet made them sick, but really it only detoxified the person, which gave them symptoms of disease such as headaches, rashes, diarrhea and fatigue. They were healing, but unfortunately mistook it for illness. Simply stated, toxins are substances that don't belong in the body. There are very mild toxins and very dangerous toxins such as heavy metals. Disease lives on toxins and we create a toxic environment in the body by living on a cooked food diet. Raw foods detoxify the body in every way, just the opposite of what cooked foods do, which is deposit their toxins. As these toxins are removed, the diseases of the body leave with it because they have nothing to live on.

Which Water to Drink

It is difficult for the body to get water from any source other than water itself. Water is the centerpiece of health, yet most people ignore it completely. The single biggest health mistake most people make, including bodybuilders, is not drinking enough water everyday. We need to drink half our body weight in ounces every day just to replace the amount of water we lose. Unfortunately, most of us reach for something other than water when we are thirsty. Or we eat something to quench our thirst, which is even worse. We have conditioned ourselves not to drink water and this is the most dangerous thing we do to our health.

There is nothing more important for the body than water, however, most health and medical professionals know very little about water, nor do they promote it. I have been in the bottled water business since 1993. Most of the water sold in health food stores is purified, either through distillation or reverse osmosis, meaning that all the minerals have been removed from the water. Unfortunately there is nothing healthy about purified water. It acidifies the body, does not hydrate it well and leaches vital minerals from the body. Spring or mineral bottled water is usually good quality and is fine to drink. But the best water by far is Ionized Water. It is a powerful antioxidant that provides the body with lots of oxygen and therefore lots of energy. It is very alkaline, which helps to balance the body's pH and bring it into homeostasis. This is critical because all disease lives in an acid environment in the body, but will not live in an alkaline environment. The size and shape of ionized water molecule clusters are very small, about half the size of conventional water molecule clusters, therefore it is extremely hydrating. And as it hydrates the body tissue better than it ever has before it pushes out all the things that don't belong there, which are commonly known as toxins. Ionized Water is extremely detoxifying, which is why there are various levels of ionization strength on a water ionizer so we can begin drinking Ionized Water slowly and don't detoxify too quickly.

Cooked Foods vs. Raw Foods

Cooked foods are poison. The first time I read that statement I thought it was ridiculous that anyone would believe that cooked foods are actually harmful to the human body. It took a few years of eating raw foods to actually understand how true that statement is. Cooked foods are an addiction that acidify the body and provides it with little, if any, nutrition. If you don't believe they are an addiction, try going a single day without them. Only raw foods rejuvenate the body because they have enzymes and organic chemical substances that are not denatured, or destroyed, by cooking. Heat is a chemical reagent thus we are chemically scrambling and destroying the nutrients when we cook food. We find no evidence of chronic disease in the wild because animals don't cook their food. In fact, we find of disease at all amongst animals until we domesticate and put them on a processed food diet at which point we begin to find every disease in them that we find in ourselves.

The Source of All Disease

Raw foods alkalize, detoxify and rejuvenate the body in every way. Cooked foods acidify and deposit toxins in the body, creating an environment that is conducive to disease. Disease only lives in a toxic environment. All disease stems from the cooked food diet and worst of all are processed and junks foods such as soft drinks and even breakfast cereals that many of us consider so healthy. Many people believe that disease is inherited, but what we really inherit is unhealthy dietary habits, eating certain foods, living a dietary lifestyle like that of our parents and it is these habits that give us the same diseases that our parents and siblings have.

How to Begin

The human body is capable of healing itself of any disease. The raw food diet is 100% successful in curing disease each and every time it's tried. Moving to the raw food diet is a profound change in lifestyle and the move must be slow and deliberate. We must stop putting the wrong things in our bodies and start putting in the right things, which are the powerful raw foods that nature provides us with. One place to start is with a salad before each meal that grows in size each day and week and month while our cooked food meal that follows shrinks in size proportionally. There is a whole world of raw foods and amazing ways they can be prepared to taste wonderful that the vast majority of us are completely unaware of.

The New Health Paradigm

The same bland message is repeated to us year after year about health and bodybuilding by the same voices. The words of that message are juggled to sound different each time they are delivered, but it is the same message that serves more to confuse rather than educate us on what true health really is. The message of raw foods and the New Health Paradigm has never truly been given a proper forum to be heard. As athletes, I believe it is time we heard this message so we can get on with the important business of being healthy. No matter how great we may look, it is worthless if our bodies are not healthy.

The body is an incredible machine that can prevent and cure itself of any disease. It is a temple that we must honor by nourishing and building it to its greatest potential. Considering the escalating cost of health care that is spiraling out of control, the need to have this message heard in the mainstream is more critical now than ever. I personally don't have health insurance and it is by choice. While I do have accident insurance in case something happens, I will never spend another dime on something I will never need, and that is a doctor.

The world of bodybuilding and fitness has two components of what we must do to Achieve Great Health, that of regular, strenuous exercise and having a positive mental attitude. We must discover the missing piece of the health puzzle, that of Ionized Water and raw nutrition. It is the new paradigm of true health where disease no longer exists. It is time this message is brought out of the fringes and into the mainstream.

What Ionized Water Has Done For Me

One of the most commonly asked questions I've received over the past eight years of selling Water Ionizers is what has Ionized Water done for me. I've been drinking Ionized Water since 1997 and the effects on my body have been dramatic.

I was already drinking a gallon of water everyday and did not have a poor diet (I was a vegetarian) so I did not suffer the detoxification effects of Ionized Water, which are extremely powerful, but won't be noticed by those who are not toxic. I drank it at the highest (strongest) level and I drank at least a gallon everyday. At present, I drink nearly two gallons everyday and, honestly, have never felt better in my life.

Since I was not ill at the time and had no chronic disease, I cannot claim that Ionized Water cured me of anything. Ionized Water is best used as a preventative health measure, a tool that can be utilized to keep you in the best health possible.

Some of the things I have noticed over the last eight years of drinking Ionized Water is an overall increase in stamina and recovery times after exercising. I have noticed this especially during and after running. I run 2-6 miles everyday as I have for years. My stamina has increased 25-30% and my recovery time has decreased a proportional amount. I never get sore joints; in particular my knees have not given me any trouble since I started drinking Ionized Water. I surmise from this that the accumulated acid waste has been washed from my joints for the most part. I am also far more limber than I was before, thus I find it much easier to stretch than I ever have before.

Colds and the flu have completely disappeared from my life since I began drinking Ionized Water. If I do feel a little something coming on, such as a sore throat, I find that drinking a few extra glasses of Ionized Water helps put it at bay quickly. It is my contention that if people were to simply drink enough water and keep their bodies properly hydrated, 60%-80% of the chronic disease in our society would disappear.

Since my brain and cranial fluids are always sufficiently hydrated, I think much clearer now. This is crucial because the brain uses 80% of every sip of water you take! Ionized Water provides the body with lots of oxygen, much of which will be used by the brain to function properly. Thus, the clarity of my thought processes have definitely improved.

  1. The first thing that Ionized Water does to the body when a person begins drinking it is flush out the digestive track. People often comment how often they have to go to the bathroom when they first start drinking Ionized Water. The smaller water molecule cluster size cleanses the lining of the digestive track and hydrates the body tissue better than any other water. As it does so, it forces out toxins and this can lead to diarrhea, rashes and other detoxification symptoms. The more toxins that are accumulated in the body, the more profound the effects of Ionized Water. Water ionizers have several levels of strength so one can begin drinking at a weak level and then increase as they get use to it.
  2. I have reduced acid levels in the body and balanced my overall body pH, which is not measured through the blood, but through the urine or saliva. But this did not happen overnight. I did not get into the shape I was in, which was not at all bad, but I was not about to correct it in every way overnight. Years of accumulated acid waste in the joints and throughout the body takes years to completely undue. And a large part will depend on your diet as to how quickly you will rid the body of acid waste.
  3. I have increased my blood oxygen level and my energy level at the same time. Oxygen is a nutrient that can saturate the blood, but cannot be stored. Thus it is crucial that we constantly provide our bodies with sufficient oxygen. Oxygen carries nutrients around the body, provides us with energy and kills bacteria, viruses, even cancer cells. 100 million years ago the atmosphere of the Earth contained 30% more oxygen than it does today. We evolved in a higher oxygen environment than we find ourselves today, partly due to pollution, partly due to natural changes between the Earth and the Sun. Ionized Water is a great source of oxygen. The oxygen that is derived from Ionized Water arrives in the form of a very potent antioxidant, which has an extra electron. The oxygen from Ionized Water comes from the hydroxyl ions that are produced when the water is run over positive and negative electrodes and there is an exchange of ions. This hydroxyl ion is an oxygen molecule that carries an extra electron which is donated to a free radical (an oxygen molecule that has only one electron). What remains are two stabilized oxygen molecule; a higher blood oxygen level is the result.
  4. Ionized Water has bathed my body in the negatively charged liquid, which promotes rejuvenation at a cellular level. All RAW fruits and vegetables have a negative charge or ORP (oxidation reduction potential). Anything that is oxidizing, such as metal has a positive charge. Our bodies are constantly being attacked by oxidation; the older we are, the higher the charge (ORP) is. When we drink negatively charged substances such as Ionized Water, this oxidation is retarded and our body's cells are allowed to rejuvenate. This is known as Reverse Aging because it allows the body to rejuvenate at a cellular level. We do not become young in physical years. If we are 40 years old, we do not become 20, but we have the body of a 20-year-old person at a cellular level. This means that the cells that make up our body are as active, productive, communicative and functional as those of a 20 year old person. However, achieving this would not be possible if you only drank Ionized Water; in conjunction with that did not move toward a more Raw Foods, away from cooked and processed foods and put Spirulina and Chlorella at the center of your diet. The Whole Food Raw Diet is the only way to achieve true health, Great Health!
  5. I know that overall my body is much better hydrated than it ever has been since Ionized Water is up to six times more hydrating than conventional water. I am much more sensitive to being dehydrated than I use to be. For example, I become aware that my body needs water after only an hour or so of not drinking any. Simply by keeping my body constantly hydrated, I am accomplishing many things I wish to regarding my health. By staying hydrated we help stave off disease better than anything else we do. My blood is never too thin or too thick because of lack of water. My organs function as optimally as can be expected because they are not starved for water. I do not retain salt, nor do I have thin blood and high blood pressure because I drink enough water, especially Ionized Water.

The effects of Ionized Water on the human body are profound, yet subtle. Ionizing Water does not change the taste of the water rather the "feel" of it. By that, I mean that ionizing water makes it smoother by changing the size and shape of the water molecule clusters. Conventional water molecules group together in clusters of 10-12 molecules. Ionizing water breaks the molecule clusters in half so they form a group of 5-6 water molecules, thus they are smaller in size and more penetrating.

What YOU can expect from drinking Ionized Water

Consuming Ionized Water can and will benefit everyone. You will definitely get all the effects discussed above: a negatively charged substance, a free radical scavenger, more oxygen in the body, a balanced body pH, better hydration and detoxification. If you drink Ionized Water the way I drink it, strong and in abundance, you will see the same benefits I do. However, remember that your body is different from mine and everyone else's, thus the effect of Ionized Water on your body will be different than it was on mine. It will depend on your historical diet and your current diet, how much water your currently drink, how much you exercise, how stressful your life is and how much medicine you both historically and currently take.

Scientific Evidence

There is not a lot of hard scientific evidence concerning Ionized Water for simple reasons. Scientific evidence, real scientific evidence, is expensive and difficult to recoup costs. The Japanese have done many studies on Ionized Water but they are not willing to release them plus the translation would be costly. However, ionization itself is not a great mystery and a great deal is known about what happens when water is ionized. Fundamentally, ionization causes a transfer of electrons between molecules, which is on the surface quite a simple process, however is very complicated upon deeper investigation. Rejuvenation through Ionized Water

Ionized Water is a Powerful Antioxidant. Imagine having the ability to take normal tap water and turn it into an antioxidant with a NEGATIVE ORP (or charge), which retards the aging process. Put simply, a high or rising ORP causes oxidation and therefore aging. The negative ORP of Ionized Water literally retards the aging process by counteracting this rising ORP. Ionized Water essentially renews us at a cellular level. This is as close as we can ever hope to get to a Fountain of Youth, as incredible as that may sound.

For instance, real fresh squeezed orange juice has a negative ORP of -250. Although we can only drink a few glasses of fresh orange juice in a day, we can drink as much Ionized Water as we wish to a day. Many people drink as much two gallons of Ionized Water per day.

Ionized Water's other Antioxidant property which also provides the body with lots of oxygen. The other Antioxidant quality of Ionized Water is hydroxyl ions. These are oxygen molecules with an extra electron attached to them as are all antioxidants such as vitamins A, C and E. To get the full power of Negatively Charged, Antioxidant, Oxygen-Rich Ionized Water, it must be consumed fresh and strong, right out of the tap. Slow the water flow down on the Water Ionizer and the glass you fill will have thousands of tiny bubbles in it. Those are hydroxyl ions, which is the antioxidant and the reason for the Negative ORP. Ionized Water is up to six times more hydrating that conventional water. Water is one of the most important element in the body, which is over 80% water. Ionized Water is fundamentally different from conventional water. This is because the size and shape of the water molecule cluster has reduced in size and changed in shape to hexagonal, which allows the water cluster to pass through our tissue more easily. One of the primary causes of disease is chronic cellular dehydration, a condition which leaves the body's cells in a perpetual state of weakness and defense. One of the major causes of chronic disease is not providing the body with sufficient water. We simply do not drink enough water (at least half our weight in ounces) to keep ourselves properly hydrated and therefore healthy.

Ionized Water is extremely detoxifying. This is also because of the reduced size and shape of the water molecule clusters. Why the “Quack Watchers” Need to be Watched

We've all seen the websites of the self-proclaimed debunkers of faux science and other myths. They explain to us that, except for the things we personally know to be true, everything we believe to be true is completely false. Almost every rumor we have heard turns out to be an urban myth when it comes to the Quack Watchers and other debunkers. And if something that they denounced turns out to be true, not another word is ever said about it and the debunking web page is quietly removed.

What quack watchers do best is plant doubt in our minds when we are trying to search out the truth about something such as a health issue. It's easy to be a skeptic. It's hard to be a believer and even harder to believe in things that others regularly ridicule. Quack Watchers often have a chilling effect on an open debate because of the way they often scoff at the issues they are challenging.

As a whole, we tend to believe the Quack Watchers because we want to believe that we can't be so easily fooled. And it's reassuring for us to believe that we are not so easily fooled. We enjoy hearing that the things that may sound a little weird or too good to be true of course could not be true. The most dangerous debunkers are the ones who have a background in science, but little or no experience at all with the subject that they are debunking. Many of the de-bunkers tend to be heavy on their opinion and light on the facts. In fact, they quite often present their opinion as gospel. For instance, when the interpretation of a photo is in question, their analysis is offered as fact, the final report.

I don't expect the de-bunkers to go away. But we need to understand that many of the claims some have made are no more than one more opinion, not the Last Word. What bothers me is that so many of the debunkers serve nothing more than to confuse us. However, it becomes unsettling when we're trying to determine the truth about crucial issues such as our health.

Quack Watchers denounce Lorraine Day, M.D. because she dares challenge the medical establishment and tell people that we can heal ourselves if we live on the right diet and have faith in God. They conclude from their Debunkdoms that someone is a crank when in fact they are someone they simply have profound differences with.

When a radical scientific concept is first introduced, there is commonly resistance to it by the prevailing scientific community of the time. New ideas are commonly ridiculed and derided because people become comfortable with ideas and they don't want to change. Often, the members of the established community must die off so a new generation can be raised with the new concept and accept it from the beginning without any unnecessarily hand-wringing about what they once embraced as the truth that has now been shown to be superseded by the next wave of discovery. The new concept will no longer be described as radical.

My problem with one Quack Watcher is his ridiculous denunciation of Ionized Water as snake oil when, in fact, a staggering amount of research has been done on the effects of Ionized Water, which is produced by running filtered tap water over positive and negative electrodes that produce positive and negative ions in the water that are then separated. Thus, ionization produces two different waters at the same time, one alkaline the other acid.

All of the research done has arrived at the same conclusion: Ionized Water benefits everything it comes in contact with as long as its used correctly. (For instance, don't drink acid water.) The Quack Watchers who denounce Ionized Water could not be more wrong about it since Ionized Water is one of the most phenomenal inventions of the 20th century for a number of reasons.

Their first mistake is to suggest that only purified water be consumed. Purified water is water without minerals produced by reverse osmosis (RO) or distillation. I have written extensively myself against the practice of consuming purified water.

Water Ionizers are designed to be used with your tap water or bottled water. If you attempt to ionize purified, de-mineralized water, you will not get a change in pH nor will the ORP (oxidation reduction potential) change. Minerals must be present in the water for ionization to take place. With water that contains minerals, ionization changes both of these properties, pH and ORP. Ionized Water is very alkaline and helps balance the body's pH. It is crucial to point out this characteristic when it comes to those who would denounce Ionized Water because we must consume substances that are alkaline to maintain a balanced body pH. Few substances are more alkaline than Ionized Water with an adjustable pH of between 8 and 10. When we acidify ourselves with a processed food diet and a stressful lifestyle, we open ourselves up to every disease imaginable. At a pH of 10, Ionized Water is 100 times more alkaline than the body should be at pH 7. To conclude that consuming a substance which is 100 times more alkaline than the body ought to be is not beneficial to our health is to demonstrate you know nothing about Ionized Water and body pH. The average person is much more acidic than she/he ought to be. Bodily acidity is the door to disease, the unraveling of our health. To ignore the incredible life-saving potential that high pH Ionized Water has to raise our overall body pH is to ignore the facts. Therefore, we need to put extremely alkaline substances into our body in order to offset this incredible acidity we create through poor diet, pollution and stress. Ionized Water has been demonstrated over and over again to raise body pH. How could it not? When we constantly consume soft drinks, which are extremely acid (pH 2.5 ~ approximately 50,000 times more acid than ideal body pH 7.0), we are dropping our body pH. When we consume Ionized Water slowly we raise our body pH until we are in homeostasis or balance.

The Quack Watcher states that the term Ionized Water is meaningless to him. Is he suggesting that ionization, a scientific principle, doesn't exist? Or is he admitting that he doesn't know what ionization is? Whether we believe in Ionized Water or not is irrelevant because it is a physical fact that cannot be denied. We can argue philosophy, but not physics and Ionized Water is chemistry and physics and what it does for the body and for our health is undeniable.

He suggests that Ionized Water is simply a placebo, something that we believe is going to change our health when in fact our mind is doing all the work. In other words, Ionized Water has no physiological affect on the body, only a psychological one, which certainly is not the case. Ionized Water balances the body pH and is a powerful antioxidant, hydrator and detoxifier.

This is our first clue that the debunker understands little if anything about Ionized Water. To ionize means to gain or lose an electron and water that has been ionized is water that has these characteristics, that of either having an extra or missing electron. We know this is true by the physical scientific measurements we can make regarding Ionized Water. We can measure changes that ionization causes with both a pH meter and ORP meter. On the alkaline side, the pH is elevated and the ORP is driven into the negative range, which counteracts the oxidation of the body when we consume it.

Tim Bolen runs a website called quackpotwatch.org that has dared to challenge these websites that denounce practically ANYTHING that is not wholly accepted by the medical establishment. In the world of the quack watchers, nothing in the universe is provable unless a double-blind study has been done on it. I often point out that there is absolutely no evidence of chronic disease in the wild, meaning that wild animals do not contract chronic diseases such as cancer, arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure. I have challenged people to show me evidence of any chronic disease in the wild and no one has yet to produce any. Do we need a double-blind study to determine the obvious? Other than universities, the only industry capable and willing to perform double-blind studies is the pharmaceutical industry. Double-blind studies are enormously expensive, costing hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars. The pharmaceutical industry is able to afford expensive studies such as these because it is very profitable for them. Studies lead to the release of medical drugs for all kinds of disease that make pharmaceuticals a lot of money. If taking drugs to control disease is the path that you chosen so be it. But drugs and medicine do not lead to health. Alternative health and Wellness protocols are often natural and inexpensive. And since no one stands to make much money off them, double-blind studies are never done on "alternative cures" such as Ionized Water. Another example is the fact that I recommend people move toward a Raw Food Diet, which doesn't cost much at all for someone to do. However, since no one is ever going to make large amounts of money from promoting raw foods, double-blind studies are never done.

The reason debunkers and quackwatchers spend their time on these websites is because they can be quite profitable. They appear as "expert witnesses" in lawsuits and they collect large fees for doing so. In essence, the intentions of quackwatchers are not to expose scams and fraud, but to denounce anything that the American Medical Association has not blessed. The Medical establishment can say and suggest almost anything and not worry about being challenged on it.

The detoxification effects alone are enough to make you realize that Ionized Water is not like any other water you will ever consume. Ionizing water changes the water molecule grouping structure so it is much smaller, hexagonal in shape, and therefore far more penetrating and hydrating. And as it hydrates your body tissue, it pushes out all the things that do not belong in the body, which are commonly known as toxins. How water molecules group together is another thing that debunkers like to state does not happen and is so much more quackery, when in fact a huge amount of scientific research has been done on water-molecule clusters .

The debunker of Ionized Water who is found on the Internet could not have gotten it more wrong in every regard. He is a retired chemistry professor from Simon Fraser University in Canada and if he had bothered to examine the properties of Ionized Water he would have found that they are exactly as I describe them to be. He also would have found that they do exactly what I say they do inside the body. He discredits himself immensely when he states that Ionized Water is simply "snake-oil on tap". History will humiliate him and Simon Fraser University should denounce any association with him. If they do not, then they are complicit in his denouncement of the one of the greatest health advances in human history.

Those that would attack Ionized Water as being a hoax of some sort do not understand how important it is that we consume substances that are negatively charged and possess negative ions. Those who debunk Ionized Water have never consumed it. None that I have seen have ever read my first book, Confessions of a Body Builder, nor excerpts from my second book, Achieving Great Health in 90 Days or Less. In my eight years of studying and consuming Ionized Water (1.5 – 2.0 gallons per day), I have never found anything that Ionized Water doesn't enhance and benefit as long as it's used properly. Read what Ionized Water has done for me . And what you can expect from drinking Ionized Water.

Many articles have been written about Ionized Water. Dr. Hidemitsu Hayashi, a Heart Surgeon and Director of the Water Institute, Tokyo , Japan , wrote a 30 page article explaining Ionized Water in great detail . Dr. Hayashi describes Ionized Water in excruciating detail, including its precise chemistry during and after ionization. All this is completely ignored by the Quack Watcher who claims to be a chemist. When we don't understand the rudimentary principles of how something functions, some of us tend to simply dismiss it out of ignorance. This is certainly the case with the debunker of Ionized Water because anyone with even the rudimentary knowledge of its chemistry will see that Ionized Water is exactly what the body requires: higher pH, strong antioxidant, negative charge, abundance of electrons, incredible hydration and detoxification properties.

If the debunker truly wanted to know if Ionized Water actually did anything to the human body one way or another, he would need to consume some for a few days or a week, but I can assure he has not. Debunkers are notorious for never trying what they denounce. They are part of a faux-intelligentsia that believes that all science can be explained on paper and therefore there is never a reason to actually test anything in the field. This is the biggest mistake that any scientist can ever make and, by his own admission, the debunker of Ionized Water has never touched a drop of it nor used a water ionizer to draw the scientific conclusions he has made. As with many of the debunkers, closer examination of them and their methods reveals who they are and that they themselves should be debunked.

My Response to Dr. Robert Young and his book: The pH Miracle

I recently read The pH Miracle. Balance Your Diet, Reclaim Your Health and found several points to disagree with in the book, which has recently become very popular. Dr. Young has done great work and I have a lot of respect for him and many of his concepts on health. However my areas of disagreement with him are profound because they refer to critical components of human health. We disagree on several other minor points such as the fact that he doesn't encourage us to exercise, but others cannot go unchallenged because they are misguided in the most fundamental way. In my opinion, Dr. Young should reconsider his position on the following stances:
  1. Dr. Young promotes the consumption of fish, which is a problem for two reasons. First, almost everyone cooks the fish they eat. Cooked foods acidify the body and lead to nearly all disease. However, even if fish is consumed raw such as with sushi, it has become extremely laden with heavy metals, in particular mercury. The US pumps 40 million tons of methyl-mercury into the atmosphere, China over 300 million tons and Russia reportedly even more. Because of this, mercury has accumulated in fish, especially larger species such as Tuna, Albacore, Sword and Shark. Heavy metals are replete throughout our environment, having accumulated because of industrialization over the last 200 years. Cooked animal protein is one of the leading causes of disease. Eating raw meat, fish, eggs and dairy is not a health hazard as long as it is organic, non-medicated and disease free. The higher we eat on the food chain, the more concentrated the toxins we consume because animals have hundreds and sometimes thousands of meals that contain toxins that become concentrated in the flesh of the fish, animal or the milk and eggs they produce. When we consume animal flesh, we are consuming those concentrated toxins found in the animals. Because of these reasons, I would never suggest anyone eat fish.
  2. Dr. Young promotes a diet that is only 80% raw, 20% cooked. He offers many cooked food recipes in the back of his book, something I would never do. People don't need to be tempted with cooked foods, nor instructed on how to make them in delicious ways. Of course, I want people to be eat as many raw foods as they possibly can. If someone is only able reach 20% raw foods in their diet, it is better than nothing. On the other hand, I encourage everyone to strive for a diet of 100% raw foods. Most of us won't reach that goal. It has taken me many years of hard work to reach a 99% raw food diet. When I first started eating raw foods, I believed that 20% of our diet should be comprised of cooked foods, mostly starchy carbohydrates such as rice or potatoes. But after four years of eating that way, I eventually realized that chronic disease does not exist in the wild not because those animals who live disease free do so on a 100% raw food diet, not 80%. There are others who promote less than a 100% raw food diet, but they do so in ignorance. Or perhaps they want to rationalize their inability to reach a 100% raw food diet. It is very difficult to achieve that goal, but that is no excuse for promoting anything less. It may appear to be a practical approach to encourage people to eat cooked foods, but that will only encourage and sustain their addiction to cook foods. It is no different than offering an alcoholic a beer occasionally because you think they need it. Giving an alcoholic a drink is encouraging alcoholism in that person and suggesting anyone eat cooked foods is telling them to engage in an activity that prematurely ages us and leads to all disease. If you do suggest anyone eat cooked foods under any circumstances, then you are an enabler. People often will ask me which cooked foods are healthy and I answer that none of them are. And as to which raw foods are healthy, they all are, which is why I promote a 100% raw food diet and attempt to eat that way each and every day.
  3. Dr. Young states that “spirulina and algae supplements . . . thrive in acid conditions and . . . are the scum you see growing on the surface of stagnant ponds and lakes.” While you may find algae mixed with scum growing on a pond, it is not scum itself and should not be confused with it. There are over 70,000 species of algae and most are quite nutritious. I quite often hear nutritionists and dietitians refer to algae as pond scum and it demonstrates a profound ignorance about some of the most powerful foods on Earth. They regurgitate this ignorance of the facts because that is what they are taught during their college years and they have never bothered to research it themselves. It does not take a lot of research to discover the truth about the miraculous health properties of certain species of algae. Dr. Young also states that algae are drawn from natural sources such as lakes. All the Spirulina and Chlorella found on the market is grown in a controlled environment in ponds and not harvested in lakes such as Klamath Blue Green Algae, which is sold under various brand names. He also states that the vitamin B12 derived from algae is “made by bacteria that get into the algae via bird feathers and droppings. ” Spirulina and Chlorella naturally contain the entire vitamin B-Complex, including B-12. The body will not easily assimilate vitamin B-12 when it is not consumed from a natural food that contains the entire vitamin B-Complex, such as Spirulina and Chlorella. Dr. Young also suggests that broccoli and algae are equally nutritious, which is an absurd notion. “Fortunately, a day's dose of algae differs little from a serving of organic broccoli, so you can reap the benefits without facing the risks.” A nutritional analysis of broccoli will show it to be a food that contains a very narrow range of enzymes and other organic chemical nutrients that are particular to that food. Nutritional analyses of either Spirulina or Chlorella reveal them to be the two most nutritional foods known. They contain the broadest array of nutrients and are the most nutritionally dense foods known. They also happen to be the two most scientifically researched foods in human history.
  4. Dr. Young also promotes the consumption of soy. Soy is rarely consumed raw unless it is sprouted. Nearly all soybeans are eaten after they are processed into tofu, textured protein or fermented into foods such as tempeh. Once you have cooked or processed any food, you have altered its natural chemical structure. Heat is a chemical reagent that radically alters anything it comes in contact with, including the foods we consume. The energy footprint of soy is unlike any other food we commonly consume. All raw foods contain negatively spinning ions, which are advantageous to our health and in fact are an absolute necessity if we want to be healthy. However, soy contains positively spinning ions, which are counter productive to our health, as are all positively charged particles. There are plenty of other problems with soy and its negative effects on the body, such as it produces a lot of gas for many who consume it. Other digestive problems often disappear when soy is removed from their diet, including infants. Processed soy products are rich in phytohemaglutinin (PHG), a glue-like substance that unbalances body chemistry, slows circulation and thickens the blood, numbing the immune and nervous systems. Enzyme inhibitors found in soy interfere with the action of trypsin, a digestive enzyme that breaks down protein. Soy also contains goitrogens, which suppress thyroid functions; phytic acid, which can block the absorption of essential minerals such as calcium, copper, magnesium, iron and zinc in the intestinal tract. The high amount of manganese found in soy-based infant formulas, 200 times that of breast milk, can cause brain damage in babies and a slowing of brain functions in children. One study concluded that the last thing women should do to prevent breast cancer is to consume soy. Another study showed accelerated brain aging in those who regularly consumed soy. Women who are pregnant should avoid soy because of the risk of breast cancer. Soy has also been linked to pancreatic cancer. Soy can slow sexual performance because isoflavones interfere with estrogen function. In one major study, Asian men who ate tofu increased their chances of getting Alzheimer’s Disease. “Soy can be used as a transition food to move away from meat and other animal protein to plant protein, that of Spirulina and Chlorella. But once that bridge has been crossed, it must be burned and soy should be completely avoided.”
  5. Lastly Dr. Young offers rather confusing advice regarding the most important component of human health, that of water. “Getting liberal amounts of alkaline water (having a pH between 9 and 11) neutralizes stored acid wastes and, if consumed every day in conjunction with a good diet, gently removes the acids from the body.” This is essentially true and I agree with Dr. Young, although I don’t recommend drinking water with a pH over 9.9 because it has become too caustic at that level. Ironically, Dr. Young promotes consuming purified water produced by distillation or reverse osmosis. He claims: “Distilled water comes closest to rain water, which, if our atmosphere wasn’t so polluted, would be the ideal source of water.” Distilled water is not anything like rain water. Rain water is full of oxygen and crystallizes into snow flakes unlike distilled water which has no crystalline structure. Dr. Masaru Emoto, a Japanese researcher, first introduced the concept of micro-cluster water molecule clusters. Using Magnetic Resonance Analysis, he demonstrated that water which had been distilled, polluted or passed through the body after consumption had lost its structure or inner order. It has been changed beyond its natural structure the same way cooking foods changes the natural chemical structure of food. The water found in plants is quite similar to distilled water in its purity. However, when we consume a plant such as a carrot, we do not only consume the water, but the whole plant as well, thus the water is buffered by the alkaline nature of minerals and enzymes of the plant. But to extract that water and consume it without neutralizing its purity and acidic nature, our body becomes the buffering agent and alkaline minerals are leached from it. I have written extensively in both my books about the dangers of drinking purified water. “[purified] water – like rainwater—have more oxygen atoms or hydroxyl ions (OH-), and fewer hydrogen ions (H+). More hydrogen makes water acidic.” Purified water is acidic, yet Dr. Young prescribes drinking both purified and alkaline water. Ionized Water and purified water are the exact opposite from one another in every way. Purified water is acid; Ionized Water is alkaline. Purified water leaves the body dehydrated; Ionized Water is extremely hydrating. Purified water leaches minerals from the body; Ionized Water provides minerals to the body. Purified water does not provide the body with oxygen; Ionized Water does. Purified water does not scavenge for free radicals; Ionized Water does. Purified water encourages oxidation of the body; Ionized Water reduces oxidation. On the other hand, Dr. Young seems to promote ionized water and even helps promote a water ionizer.

If Dr. Young wishes to be considered someone who promotes true health, he needs to re-examine some of the basic tenants of his ideas about health, particularly those I have outlined in this article.

Ionized Water

In order to be healthy we need only do three things: Alkalize, hydrate and detoxify the body. If we accomplish this, we can prevent and even cure the body of any disease. All we need to know is how to achieve this. Ionized Water accomplishes all these things and much more. It alkalizes, hydrates and detoxifies the body more effectively than any other substance. No other water can accomplish this. Running normal tap water through a water ionizer creates a miracle that can help put your body into a position of health you never imagined you could achieve.

I start each day with a 16 oz. glass of Ionized Water, fresh out of the tap at a pH 9.5 – 9.9. Considering that we spend 6 – 8 hours each night sleeping, the first thing we should do upon waking in the morning is drink a big glass of water. After my first glass of Ionized Water, I draw another and drink it over the next 30 – 40 minutes. Therefore, each day I consume one liter of water before I put anything else in my body.

Whenever we attempt to determine whether there is life as we know it on Mars or other planets, scientists first seek to establish whether or not water is present. Why? Because life on earth totally depends on water. 

A High percentage of living things, both plant and animal are found in water. All life on earth is thought to have arisen from water. The bodies of all living organisms are composed largely of water. About 70 to 90 percent of all organic matter is water. 

The chemical reactions in all plants and animals that support life take place in a water medium. Water not only provides the medium to make these life sustaining reactions possible, but water itself is often an important reactant or product of these reactions. In short, the chemistry of life is water chemistry. 

Water, the universal solvent

Water is a universal, superb solvent due to the marked polarity of the water molecule and its tendency to form hydrogen bonds with other molecules. One water molecule, expressed with the chemical symbol H2O, consists of 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom. 

Standing alone, the hydrogen atom contains one positive proton at its core with one negative electron revolving around it in a three-dimensional shell. Oxygen, on the other hand, contains 8 protons in its nucleus with 8 electrons revolving around it. This is often shown in chemical notation as the letter O surrounded by eight dots representing 4 sets of paired electrons. 

The single hydrogen electron and the 8 electrons of oxygen are the key to the chemistry of life because this is where hydrogen and oxygen atoms combine to form a water molecule, or split to form ions. 

Hydrogen tends to ionize by losing its single electron and form single H+ ions which are simply isolated protons since the hydrogen atom contains no neutrons. A hydrogen bond occurs when the electron of a single hydrogen atom is shared with another electronegative atom such as oxygen that lacks an electron. 

Polarity of water molecules

In a water molecule, two hydrogen atoms are covalently bonded to the oxygen atom. But because the oxygen atom is larger than the hydrogens, its attraction for the hydrogen's electrons is correspondingly greater so the electrons are drawn closer into the shell of the larger oxygen atom and away from the hydrogen shells. This means that although the water molecule as a whole is stable, the greater mass of the oxygen nucleus tends to draw in all the electrons in the molecule including the shared hydrogen electrons giving the oxygen portion of the molecule a slight electronegative charge. 

The shells of the hydrogen atoms, because their electrons are closer to the oxygen, take on a small electropositive charge. This means water molecules have a tendency to form weak bonds with water molecules because the oxygen end of the molecule is negative and the hydrogen ends are positive.  A hydrogen atom, while remaining covalently bonded to the oxygen of its own molecule, can form a weak bond with the oxygen of another molecule. Similarly, the oxygen end of a molecule can form a weak attachment with the hydrogen ends of other molecules. Because water molecules have this polarity, water is a continuous chemical entity. 

These weak bonds play a crucial role in stabilizing the shape of many of the large molecules found in living matter. Because these bonds are weak, they are readily broken and re-formed during normal physiological reactions. The disassembly and re-arrangement of such weak bonds is in essence the chemistry of life. 

To illustrate water's ability to break down other substances, consider the simple example of putting a small amount of table salt in a glass of tap water. With dry salt (NaCl) the attraction between the electropositive sodium (Na+) and electronegative chlorine (Cl-) atoms of salt is very strong until it is placed in water. After salt is placed in water, the attraction of the electronegative oxygen of the water molecule for the positively charged sodium ions, and the similar attraction of the electropositive hydrogen ends of the water molecule for the negatively charged chloride ions, are greater than the mutual attraction between the outnumbered Na+ and Cl- ions. In water the ionic bonds of the sodium chloride molecule are broken easily because of the competitive action of the numerous water molecules. 

As we can see from this simple example, even the delicate configuration of individual water molecules enables them to break relatively stronger bonds by converging on them. This is why we call water the universal solvent. It is a natural solution that breaks the bonds of larger, more complex molecules. This is the chemistry of life on earth, in water and on land. 

Oxidation-reduction reactions

Basically, reduction means the addition of an electron (e-), and its converse, oxidation means the removal of an electron. The addition of an electron, reduction, stores energy in the reduced compound. The removal of an electron, oxidation, liberates energy from the oxidized compound. Whenever one substance is reduced, another is oxidized. 

To clarify these terms, consider any two molecules, A and B, for example.   

When molecules A and B come into contact, here is what happens: 

  • B grabs an electron from molecule A.  Molecule A has been oxidized because it has lost an electron. 
  • The net charge of B has been reduced because it has gained a negative electron (e-). 

In biological systems, removal or addition of an electron constitutes the most frequent mechanism of oxidation-reduction reactions. These oxidation-reduction reactions are frequently called redox reactions. 

Acids and Bases

An acid is a substance that increases the concentration of hydrogen ions (H+) in water. A base is a substance that decreases the concentration of hydrogen ions, in other words, increasing the concentration of hydroxide ions OH-.  The degree of acidity or alkalinity of a solution is measured in terms of a value known as pH, which is the negative logarithm of the concentration of hydrogen ions:

pH = 1/log[H+] = -log[H+] 

What is pH?

On the pH scale, which ranges from 0 on the acidic end to 14 on the alkaline end, a solution is neutral if its pH is 7. At pH 7, water contains equal concentrations of H+ and OH- ions. Substances with a pH less than 7 are acidic because they contain a higher concentration of H+ ions. Substances with a pH higher than 7 are alkaline because they contain a higher concentration of OH- than H+. The pH scale is a log scale so a change of one pH unit means a tenfold change in the concentration of hydrogen ions. 

Importance of balancing pH

Living things are extremely sensitive to pH and function best (with certain exceptions, such as certain portions of the digestive tract) when solutions are nearly neutral. Most interior living matter (excluding the cell nucleus) has a pH of about 6.8.

Blood plasma and other fluids that surround the cells in the body have a pH of 7.2 to 7.3. Numerous special mechanisms aid in stabilizing these fluids so that cells will not be subject to appreciable fluctuations in pH. Substances which serve as mechanisms to stabilize pH are called buffers. Buffers have the capacity to bond ions and remove them from solution whenever their concentration begins to rise. Conversely, buffers can release ions whenever their concentration begins to fall. Buffers thus help to minimize the fluctuations in pH. This is an important function because many biochemical reactions normally occurring in living organisms either release or use up ions.  NOTE: Dr. Hayashi is a Heart Specialist and Director of the Water Institute of Japan.

Oxygen: Too much of a good thing?  Oxygen is essential to survival. It is relatively stable in the air, but when too much is absorbed into the body it can become active and unstable and has a tendency to attach itself to any biological molecule, including molecules of healthy cells. The chemical activity of these free radicals is due to one or more pairs of unpaired electrons. 

About 2% of the oxygen we normally breathe becomes active oxygen, and this amount increases to approximately 20% with aerobic exercise. 

Such free radicals with unpaired electrons are unstable and have a high oxidation potential, which means they are capable of stealing electrons from other cells. This chemical mechanism is very useful in disinfectants such as hydrogen peroxide and ozone which can be used to sterilize wounds or medical instruments. Inside the body these free radicals are of great benefit due to their ability to attack and eliminate bacteria, viruses and other waste products. 

Active Oxygen in the body

Problems arise, however, when too many of these free radicals are turned loose in the body where they can also damage normal tissue.  Putrefaction sets in when microbes in the air invade the proteins, peptides, and amino acids of eggs, fish and meat. The result is an array of unpleasant substances such as: 

  • Hydrogen sulfide  Ammonia  Histamines  Indoles  Phenols 
  • Scatoles 

These substances are also produced naturally in the digestive tract when we digest food, resulting in the unpleasant odor evidenced in feces. Putrefaction of spoiled food is caused by microbes in the air; this natural process is duplicated in the digestive tract by intestinal microbes. All these waste products of digestion are pathogenic, that is, they can cause disease in the body.  Hydrogen sulfide and ammonia are tissue toxins that can damage the liver. Histamines contribute to allergic disorders such as atopic dermatitis, urticaria (hives) and asthma. Indoles and phenols are considered carcinogenic.  Because waste products such as hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, histamines, phenols and indoles are toxic, the body's defense mechanisms try to eliminate them by releasing neutrophils (a type of leukocyte, or white corpuscle). These neutrophils produce active oxygen, oddball oxygen molecules that are capable of scavenging disintegrating tissues by gathering electrons from the molecules of toxic cells.  Problems arise, however, when too many of these active oxygen molecules, or free radicals, are produced in the body. They are extremely reactive and can also attach themselves to normal, healthy cells and damage them genetically. These active oxygen radicals steal electrons from normal, healthy biological molecules. This electron theft by active oxygen oxidizes tissue and can cause disease.
Because active oxygen can damage normal tissue, it is essential to scavenge this active oxygen from the body before it can cause disintegration of healthy tissue. If we can find an effective method to block the oxidation of healthy tissue by active oxygen, then we can attempt to prevent disease.

Antioxidants block dangerous oxidation

One way to protect healthy tissue from the ravages of oxidation caused by active oxygen is to provide free electrons to active oxygen radicals, thus neutralizing their high oxidation potential and preventing them from reacting with healthy tissue.  Research on the link between diet and cancer is far from complete, but some evidence indicates that what we eat may affect our susceptibility to cancer. Some foods seem to help defend against cancer, others appear to promote it.  Much of the damage caused by carcinogenic substances in food may come about because of an oxidation reaction in the cell. In this process, an oddball oxygen molecule may damage the cell's genetic code. Some researchers believe that substances that prevent oxidation -- called ANTIOXIDANTS -- can block the damage. This leads naturally to the theory that the intake of natural antioxidants could be an important aspect of the body's defense against cancer. Substances that some believe inhibit cancer include vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, selenium, and glutathione (an amino acid). These substance are reducing agents. They supply electrons to free radicals and block the interaction of the free radical with normal tissue. 

How we can avoid illness

As we mentioned earlier, the presence of toxic waste products such as hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, histamines, indoles, phenols and scatoles impart an offensive odor to human feces. In the medical profession, it is well known that patients suffering from hepatitis and cirrhosis pass particularly odoriferous stools.  Excessively offensive stools caused by the presence of toxins are indicators of certain diseases, and the body responds to the presence of these toxins by producing neutrophil leukocytes to release active oxygen in an attempt to neutralize the damage to organs that can be caused by such waste products. But when an excess amount of such active oxygen is produced, it can damage healthy cells as well as neutralize toxins. This leads us to the conclusion that we can minimize the harmful effect of these active oxygen radicals by reducing them with an ample supply of electrons. 

Water . . . the natural solution

There is no substitute for a healthy balanced diet, especially rich in antioxidant materials such as vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, and other foods that are good for us. However, these substances are not the best source of free electrons that can block the oxidation of healthy tissue by active oxygen.  Water treated by electrolysis to increase its reduction potential is the best solution to the problem of providing a safe source of free electrons to block the oxidation of normal tissue by free oxygen radicals. We believe that reduced water, water with an excess of free electrons to donate to active oxygen, is the best solution because: 

  • The reduction potential of water can be dramatically increased over other antioxidants in food or vitamin supplements. 
  • The molecule weight of reduced water is low, making it fast acting and able to reach all tissues of the body in a very short time. 

Oxidized Water

Oxidized water with its redox potential of +1100 mV is an oxidizing agent that can withdraw electrons from bacteria and kill them. The oxidized water from the Water Ionizer unit can be used to clean hands, kitchen utensils, fresh vegetables and fruits, and to sterilize cutting boards and minor wounds. Tests have shown that oxidized water can be used effectively to treat athlete's foot, minor burns, insect bites, scratches, and so on.  Other apparatus are capable of producing super oxide water with a redox potential of +1,100 mV or more, and a pH lower than 2.7. Tests have shown that this superoxide water can quickly destroy MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus).  Although super oxide water is a powerful sterilizing agent, it won't harm the skin. In fact, it can be used to heal. Superoxide water has proven effective in American and Japanese hospitals in the treatment of bedsores and operative wounds with complicated infections.  Another application of superoxide water is in the field of agriculture where it has been used effectively on plants to kill fungi and other plant diseases. Superoxide water is non-toxic, so agricultural workers can apply it without wearing special protective equipment because there is no danger of skin or respiratory damage. An added benefit of using superoxide water to spray plants is that there is no danger to the environment caused by the accumulation of toxic chemicals in the ground. 

Even advocates of the importance of vitamin C in diet staples have to admit that its potency, namely, the redox potential of this important vitamin, rapidly diminishes with age and preparation for the dining table. Carbohydrates, the main consistent of vegetables and fruit, has a molecular weight of 180 whereas water has a much lower molecular weight of 18.

SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS 

Upstream and downstream theory

Prevent disease at the source

According to Dr. Hidemitsu Hayashi, Director of the Water Institute of Japan, "To eliminate the pollutants in a large stream that is contaminated at its source, we must work on the problems upstream at the headwaters -- the source of the pollution -- not downstream where we can only try to treat the evidence of damage caused by the pollution."

Upstream

According to our model, we consider the digestive tract upstream where we intake water and food. Although many people today in developed countries are growing more skeptical about what they eat, they tend to concentrate more on what the food contains rather than the metabolized products of foods in the digestive tract.

Upstream

For example, consider the typical balanced diet of meat and vegetables. Meat protein is metabolized into amines while nitrates from fertilizers used to grow vegetables metabolize into nitrites in the digestive tract. These amines and nitrites combine to form nitrosamine, a recognized carcinogen.  We've already discussed that odoriferous feces are evidence of excessive fermentation in the digestive tract, so reduced water performs a very important function upstream in the digestive tract by reducing this excessive fermentation as evidenced by cleaner stools within days of starting a steady regimen of reduced water. 

Downstream

Downstream 

Downstream from the digestive tract, starting at the liver, reduced water quickly enters the liver and other organs due to, first, its lower molecular weight, and, secondly, the size of its clusters. At tissue sites throughout the body, reduced water with its safe, yet potent reduction potential readily donates its passenger electrons freely to active oxygen and neutralizes them so they cannot damage the molecules of healthy cells. Normal cells are protected from the electron thievery of active oxygen and allowed to grow, mature, function and regenerate without interference from rogue, oddball oxygen radicals which tend to steal the electrons from the molecules of normal, healthy biological molecules. 

The water boom

We are now in the midst of a water boom. In Japan and other countries consumers are buying various kinds of bottled and canned water even though water is one of our most abundant vital resources. Research data reveals that mineral waters may have an ORP of +200 mV, slightly lower than the general +400 mV measured for ordinary tap water. We can say that at least mineral water is marginally better than tap water from the viewpoint of ORP. Compared to any processed water for sale, however, Water Ionizers with its general reduction potential of -200 is beyond comparison due to its ability to scavenge active oxygen radicals.

Cleaning A Water Ionizer with White Vinegar

If there is very little water coming out the tube that drains into the sink (the acid tube), the unit may need cleaning because of mineral build-up on the electrodes.  This usually does not become a problem for until at least 12-24 months of use.  The safest way to clean the unit so as not to damage the electrodes is to recirculate WHITE VINEGAR through the unit using a small fish tank pump or small water-garden pump ($15 -- $40).

  1. Unplug the Water Ionizer from the electrical outlet. Remove as much water from the Water Ionizer by blowing through the silver tube, inlet tube and acid tube.  Also remove the filter and shake as much water from it as you can then replace it.  The filter must be securely placed in the Water Ionizer for cleaning the ionizer in this method.
  2. Prepare a container of WHITE VINEGAR for the pump.  Attach the INLET hose from the Water Ionizer to the pump.  Depending on the pump you purchase, this may require some minor modifications so that the hose will fit into the pump properly.  Submerge the pump into the white vinegar.
  3. Plug the small fish tank pump or small water-garden pump in to the electrical outlet. (A GFI safety plug should be used for this in order to protect against electrocution). 
  4. Place both the silver tube and acid water tube from the Water Ionizer into the white vinegar container so the entire system is recirculating.
  5. At first, there may be very little flow through the silver tube.  However, as long as the slightest amount of vinegar is flowing through the silver tube, the vinegar will eventually dissolve the calcium that is blocking the water from flowing out the tube.
  6. Clean the Water Ionizer for 2-12 hours depending on how much calcium and other minerals have been deposited on the electrodes.
  7. Reattach the Water Ionizer to your water source and flush the unit with water for 10-20 minutes to clean out the vinegar from the unit. 
  8. Begin using the Water Ionizer again.

Calcium buildup on the electrodes causes the pH of the ionized water to drop because the source water is not coming in contact with the electrodes. Once your Water Ionizer is cleaned using this method, the pH of the ionized water will be higher because the water is now coming in direct contact with the cleaned electrodes.

Tip: You can also remove the silver tube from the unit and submerge it completely in the WHITE VINEGAR overnight to remove much of the calcium build up.

The reason for the calcium build up on the alkaline side of the Water Ionizer is because the high pH of the water causes the minerals in the water to precipitate out of the water and become displaced on.

The Water Ionizer must be unplugged from its power source while cleaning the unit in this manner.
